Saturday, 24th May 2025 – The International School Brunei (ISB) Year 13 Class of 2025 celebrated their successful completion of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme with a graduation ceremony this evening at the Royal Berkshire Hall, Tarindak.

The ISB IB Graduation 2025 was graced by His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah; Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Muda 'Abdul Muntaqim; Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Anak Muneerah Madhul Bolkiah; Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Muda Muhammad Aiman; and Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Anak Faathimah Az-Zahraa' Raaihanul Bolkiah.

Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Muda 'Abdul Muntaqim is among the graduates of the ISB Year 13 Class of 2025 who finished their final IB examinations this month, and the ceremony commemorated the students’ achievement of this important milestone.

The event began with the Class of 2025 procession, which saw the graduates enter the hall together. This was followed by a welcome address from Mr. Dominic Morley, Executive Principal and CEO of ISB, who said, “I am delighted to congratulate Year 13 graduates. You should always feel proud of yourself as an ISB and an IB graduate. Tonight, we celebrate and anticipate the many opportunities that lie ahead as you embark on your prestigious university and promising careers.”

“As graduates, you embody ISB’s core values—grit and determination in the face of challenges, inclusivity that strengthens communities, academic excellence that sharpens your minds, and respect that guides your actions. Through your unwavering efforts, you have laid the foundation for futures full of possibility. May you carry these values forward, knowing that you are prepared to leave a meaningful impact in whatever path you choose.”

“I would also like to commend and thank all my colleagues who create a very supportive school environment and provide incredible educational experiences, enabling everyone to excel,” added Mr. Morley.

Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Ahmad bin Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Bakti Di-Raja Dato Laila Utama Haji Awang Isa, ISB Board Chairman then delivered a commencement address, highlighting, “At ISB, we have always believed that a quality education is one of an individual’s greatest assets – a lasting strength that, once attained, cannot be taken away, and benefits both the person and their community.”

“Our mission of ‘Inspiring Minds, Shaping Values and Building Futures’ is built on this idea and served as our motivation to introduce the IB Diploma Programme in 2001 – the first school in Brunei Darussalam and Borneo to do so.”

“Since then, we are very pleased to report that our IB results have been consistently above world average year on year. It is our belief and hope, that with this prestigious programme in hand, our students are armed with the knowledge and skills they need to be our future leaders, as they venture on beyond school.”

Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Muda 'Abdul Muntaqim then delivered a speech on behalf of the graduating class, sharing memories from his educational journey with International School Brunei that started in Pre-Kindy at the age of two years old and culminated with graduation from the IB Diploma Programme in Year 13.

Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Muda 'Abdul Muntaqim expressed deep appreciation for the guidance and support received throughout the years, stating, “We have had incredible teachers who have pushed us, supported us, and reminded us of what we could achieve, especially when we doubted ourselves most. Whether it was a quiet word of encouragement or just giving small feedback to refine on our internal assessments, they made a bigger difference than they probably realise. Thank you, Teachers and all PreU staff.”

Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Muda 'Abdul Muntaqim also said, “To finish, the best advice I have is for us (not just to the IB graduates but to everyone in general) to soak in the time and experiences while we still have it. Don't wait until all the good times are just good memories. Enjoy it all now. So, may these past few years, our school life and memories of ISB mean something special to you, as they have to me.”

Also present was Yang Mulia Dr Haji Azman Bin Ahmad, Permanent Secretary (Higher ؿζSM) from the Ministry of ؿζSM; as well as Members of the ISB Board of Directors Mr. Roy David Kurian, Ms. Sharon Tan, Mr. Jorge Francisco Vega, and Mr. Wong Chin Toon. The event was also attended by Ms. Vienna Law, General Manager of ISB; Dr. Peter Jones, Head of ISB Secondary; Mr. Richard Edwards, IBDP Coordinator at ISB; ISB staff; and graduates’ parents.

Recognised as the most highly valued curriculum for 16–18-year-olds by universities and employers, the IB Diploma is a challenging and stimulating two-year programme emphasising critical thinking, multi-disciplinary learning, and inter-cultural understanding. ISB has a track record of consistently high academic results above global averages, which reinforce the school’s position as the premier choice for IB education in Brunei Darussalam.
